This was said during a handover ceremony of construction works to four contractors in the district on Monday.

Director of public works Misheck Gondwe told the contractors to be serious in their work and complete the stadium in the stipulated three month—

“This is one of the projects which has been anticipated as you know that Chitipa has no football stadium. We have pumped in K720 million in the construction.

"We have told the contractors to complete the stadium as quickly as possible since chitipa united will be using it next season,” Gondwe said.

Furthermore Gondwe advised contractors to be serious and committed to the work since the stadium will be used to generate revenue.

Chairperson for chitipa united Fidelis Kambale thanked government for the development.

"We are very happy that the council for chitipa will complete the stadium.

This will cut some cost as chitipa united football club is concerned with issues of transportation and I request all chitipa supporters to support contractors as they will be completing the stadium,“ said kambale.

The Project is being constructed with funding from Governance and Enable Service Delivery (GESD) and will be completed in three month time with four contractors.
