Likoma MP calls for unity, determination to achieve development

A member of Parliament (MP) for Likoma Charles Chilambula has called for unity among the islanders to achieve meaningful development projects across Chizumulu and Likoma islands.

Chilambula made the call during his New Year message on 1st January 2026, calling for a renewed hope and determination amongst the islanders.


"As we enter 2026, let us do so with renewed hope and determination and a shared responsibility. United, we shall complete unfinished projects and advance development across our Constituency," he said.


He said his priorities remain clear such as better roads and transport, food security , quality education, improved health services and strengthened Social services.


"I am optimistic that Chizumulu and Likoma Islands will be what the people choose them to be," he stated.


Whole quoting a verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Proverbs 22:7, with an appeal to people to be humble, prayerful and seek God's intervention assuring that God's thoughts are in every a man's desires.


Recently, the parliamentarian donated 8.5 million kwacha to about 415 disaster affected families whose houses have been destroyed with heavy rains on Likoma and Chizumulu islands.


Likoma and Chizumulu islands are among the districts that have suffered destruction of infrastructure and roads among others due to the persistent rain dropping.
