As one way of embracing cleanliness in their mindset, Malawian youths in Thyolo District through environmental office have been urged to remain committed to cleanliness in their communities and the surrounding.

This was said on Friday during the cleaning up exercise conducted by Thyolo District Council through Environmental office as per the President Chakwera "Clean up campaign initiative which is done in every second Friday of every month.
Thyolo District Council Acting Director of Environment and Natural Resources, Miriam Yona emphasized on the of mobilising youths for such activities as it will embrace the mindset of continuity.
"Youths are future leaders and by involving them in such activities we are instilling the mindset of having clean surrounding,
"This will help them in the near future in lobbying the same and advocating the other generation on the crucial part of remaining committed in having cleanliness areas around homes and communities," she said.
Thyolo Director of Administration (DOA) Elestina M'mame, said the exercise which helps in reducing instance of diseases acted as way of teaching young ones that it is good to work.
"Youths need to embrace work especially of cleaning their surrounding and communities they are living in as it if they are health they will contribute to the development of the country," She pointed out.
The DOA further said it is a must for every citizen of Thyolo District to participate in such initiative as will help in enhancing cleanliness.
One of young participant from Agriculture Office, Grant Ngwale, said involving them in such activities will help to continue with same spirit.
"These officers are old, and we still have energy and capable hence instilling this mindset it's crucial as we are present and near future leaders," he said.
He then urged other youths who feel like engaging themselves in such activities of cleanliness is old fashion and wastage of time to switch their mindset to view in positive manner.
The exercise involved in slashing busher areas, and removing clocked water drains for water to move freely to avoid stagnant water, henceforth the function was patronised by Malawi Police, Prison, Market committees and District Council Officials.
