The Four Cooperatives; namely, Salima Cane Growers, Springs farm, Funde and Lifanchima Rice are among the beneficiaries of Agricultural Commercialisation (AGCOM) projects.
According to Kawale the government's main objective is to help Malawians move away from subsidiary farming to commercial farming and improve the people's welfare in alignment to Malawi's blueprint vision 2063.
Kawale further said it is the role of the cooperations to take a leading role in promoting the agriculture sector in the country.
Chairperson for Salima Cane Growers Cooperative, Dennis Mpota, commended AGCOM project saying the funding has helped farmers to be independent and acquire farming materials to maximize Agriculture production.
Agricultural Commercialisation (AGCOM) project is a Malawi Government flagship programme, which aims at transforming smallholder farmers from mostly subsistence to commercial farming.
