Officials in Thyolo have commended supervision works on the Climate Smart Public Works Programme (CSPWP) saying has assisted on the progress registered in the Southern region.
Cluster Coordinator for the South, Henry Hunga said supervision has proven to be the best way to enhancing quality works among the participants in CSPWP.

This was highlighted during a visit by the district council officials in two Catchment areas of Chidzimbi and Nkoma in Traditional Authority (T/A) Changata in the district.
Speaking after the supervision, Hunga said their interest was to see how public works is progressing in the district.
"Supervision is very important because it enhances quality works as well as providing guidance to the beneficiaries and Catchment Committee members and extension workers that are working on daily basis," he said.
"These beneficiaries are planting trees in river banks to protect the rivers that are within the catchment area which are being threatened with land degradation of the soil from the upland hence very important to come around to see how the works are going," He said.
He then thanked the District Council for continuous supervision to give the participants guidelines as knowledge is generated on daily basis.
Thyolo District Desk Officer for CSPWP Francis Yohane, appreciated how the beneficiaries have planted trees in these two Catchment Areas.
"As District council we have been convinced that their is collaborative effort of restoring the degraded land in the areas thereby checking this quality work," he said
One of the beneficiary for the programme, Chifuniro Manuelo from Chidzimbi Catchment Area said the programme and the supervision is crucial because she gained knowledge on how to conserve the rivers for the continuity of programme to other generation.
Foreman from the same Catchment Area Lucius Million, noted that planting trees on the river banks will help to avoid more degradation, and water will be readily available as trees conserve moisture.
On the other hand, Nkoma Catchment Committe Chairperson, Kingston Makuka, said through the programme soil fertility is improving and they revamping banana cultivation hence need for more guidelines.
The two Catchment areas Chidzimbi and Nkoma are under Masambanjati Extension Planning Areas, and has 1298 and 500 beneficiaries respectively.
