Agriculture is a backbone of the country's economy according to National Coordinator for the Association of Business Journalists (ABJ) Author Tchokotho.
"It's essential to embrace it," he says, encouraging young people to take up farming as a career. By doing so, they'll be contributing to the country's economic growth and reducing unemployment.
The government and private sector are promoting farming as a way to drive economic growth and reduce unemployment. By encouraging young people to venture into farming, they're helping to ensure a brighter future for all.
During the ceremony, President for Media Network on Tobacco (MNT) Alfred Chauwa appealed to young people to venture into farming and turn it into a serious business attempting to address the challenges facing the country such as forex scarcity.
Namuleri Farms is a prime example of the diversity of crops that can be grown in the country. From tobacco and maize to rice and livestock, there are numerous opportunities for young farmers to explore. By embracing agriculture, young people can not only earn a living but also contribute to the country's food security.
The benefits of farming extend beyond economic growth and food security. It also plays a critical role in promoting environmental sustainability. By adopting eco-friendly agricultural practices, young farmers can help mitigate the effects of climate change.
