Speaking during the donation ceremony Vice General Secretary for Awome Towera Katswiri said that they thought to cheer up Upendo Children's Village as one way of showing some love in the month of mother's day, as well as a commemoration that Awome has clocked one year since it started.

"We thought of donating these items because we were told that they have a number of challenges such as food, soap, clothes and sugar, just to mention but a few," said Katswiri.

The Director for Upendo Children's Village, pastor Florence Mukhisi said the donation has come at the right time because they are currently facing a lot of challenges to find basic necessities for the children.

Mukhisi has also encouraged parents to show their children love since most of the children which are being kept at Upendo are not street kids nor orphans but rather they run away from their homes due to the ill-treatment they face in their parents homes.

"I cannot thank you enough, but God should bless you for the gesture you have done today," said Mukhisi.

Other donated items included soap, sugar ,Cooking oil, clothes, and salt.

Upendo Children's village has currently 50 children.
