Citizens for Justice and Equity (CFJ) have expressed their strong disagreement with the opposition party's planned demonstrations saying the organizers should instead reflect on the electoral process.
Opposition should reflect on electoral processes- Khombe PIC Martha Chikoti
Secretary Agape Khombe emphasized that the opposition's stance against the digital electoral system is perplexing, especially since the Malawi parliament recently passed a bill making all electoral processes digital.
Khombe pointed out the hypocrisy of the opposition party, questioning their demand for the resignation of Anabel Mtalimanja, Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), who is a member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
He highlighted that the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has had three representatives in key positions, including MEC CEO Jean Mathanga and former Chairperson Jane Ansah.
The CFJ secretary also criticized former President Joyce Banda, accusing her of fueling divisions within the country and lacking integrity.
He emphasized that the current regime has allowed her to enjoy the benefits of her former presidency, and it's time for her to promote unity.
During the briefing, Khombe urged the opposition party to reflect on the electoral process instead of resorting to demonstrations.
