Community members from Group Village Headman (GVH) Kadzuwa in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mbawera under Mlendere and Pamtsetse clusters are making strides with Community Savings and Investment Promotion (COMSIP) 'Revolving Fund' to help them recover from Cyclone Freddy fate.

Speaking in an interview with GAN on Friday, one of the beneficiaries, Malita Paulosi, from GVH Kadzuwa said the COMSIP grants and loans have helped her to venture into small scale businesses which has turned around her livelihood.
"With the coming of the Revolving Fund I managed to open a shop where I also sell tomatoes. I fell life is better off now unlike in the past,” said Paulosi.
She then urged COMSIP to add more loans for them so that they can have more opportunities to improve their households.
COMSIP Extension Worker for the Area, Feda Jussa, said the money received in the groups has boosted capital for their businesses.
"The Revolving Fund has indeed helped us a lot. It has become easy to lend money because the grant is almost reaching everyone within the group thereby acting as capital for our businesses,” said Jussa.
She encouraged fellow group members to be committed to give back the loans to ensure others also benefits.
She then thanked COMSIP and Thyolo District Council for offering a shoulder to the groups when they were down with the Cyclone Freddy.
Thyolo District Community Development Officer (DCDO), Joseph Banda said the emphasis of the supervision was to see how recovery grants have been used.
"We are happy that the clusters were able to multiply the money from where it started. Patsetse and Mlendere Cluster received K280 and K500 hundred thousand respectively," he said.
He said the Council would like to see the people be financially stable and use the grant to sustain their livelihood.
