Eight nabbed for theft in Thyolo

Police in Thyolo have arrested eight people for allegedly being connected to the missing of 70 bags of cement.


The suspects will appear in court soon PIC Dalitso Kampira



Thyolo Police Station Publicist ,Rabecca Kashoti confirmed the development saying the incident occurred at Ntawa Primary School in the district.


"On December 30, 2024 Kingsley Siliya, 63 of Sathawa Village Traditional Authority Nanseta who is the headteacher of Ntawa Primary School received a phone call from his deputy that 70 bags of cement were missing from the stores-room," she said


The PRO said the news prompted the headteacher to organize an emergency meeting with the school management which in the end it discovered that stores clerk, foreman, security guards and other school committee members were involved in the issue.


The matter was reported to Thyolo Police Station and detectives went to the scene and discovered that there was no breaking into the stores room but 70 bags of cement worth K1.3 million were missing.


Samuel Chibisa, Cecilia Nyowera, Shyreen Moyenda, Christopher Danken, Trouble Makina, Limbaugh Petro, Patrick Makombe and Enerst Mathias were arrested.


Meanwhile, all suspects in are in police cell pending court trial.
