Fuel has proven to be a necessity that drives every part of economy at all angles.
However, the scarcity of the commodity in the country has paralyzed every sector including business traders, students and transporters.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Friday one of the business operator in Mzuzu Gibson Chisi said the challenge of fuel has led to increased prices of every commodity at the market including transportation.
He said in the past only vehicle owners could complain of fuel but at the moment it is everybody else.
"In the past people who had no cars could not complain of shortage of fuel because they thought it only affected the car owners but now it is everyone else.
"I sell Irish potatoes which I get from Luviri,Jenda in Mzimba and Ntcheu districts respectively but I am failing to do that because transport is so expensive," said Chisi.
Another concerned citizen, Judith Chirwa conquered with Chisi saying even school going children are finding it hard to travel to school on time.
"So we hard hope that the challenge of fuel will come to an end by Friday, 10th January 2025 as earlier announced by government but still there is no news of fuel arriving.
"I have 3 school going children but cannot go to school because the school bus driver says there is no fuel. This is very disappointing when we look at their future because they are missing out from what their fellow students are learning," lamented Chirwa.
