Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have destroyed over 20 houses and property at Ipenza in Traditional Authority Kameme in Chitipa district on Monday afternoon.

According to a Committee Member for Disaster Committee in the area, Milliam Liwinga confirmed of the incident saying the hailstorm fell in the afternoon of Monday and resulted in blowing off roofs of houses and damaging properties to over 20 houses.
Liwinga said they have so far recorded minor injuries adding that they are still making an assessment to find out the exact number of houses affected in the area.
The Department of Meteorology predicted normal to above normal type of rainfall in 2024-2025 agricultural season in the country.Heavy rains destroy over 20 houses in Chitipa
