Police at Jenda, in Mzimba district, have taken a significant step to strengthen community security in Khosolo area through capacity building of Khosolo Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Looking at its geographical position—56 kilometers East of the Jenda Police Station, bordering Nkhotakota along the Lakeshore M5 Road—establishing strong community policing structures in Khosolo is essential.
The Officer In-Charge for Jenda, Senior Assistant Commission of Police, Grwadwick Mangadzi said the training focused on vital security practices and community engagement strategies saying the role of CPF members is to work as advocates for the Malawi Police Service.
He encouraged participants to disseminate their knowledge to grassroots committees, ensuring that the principles learned would reach all levels of the community.
Sub Inspector Elijah Kasote, the Community Policing Coordinator, expanded on critical issues such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), providing participants with practical reporting mechanisms.
"This training not only informed CPF members about the forms of GBV but also equipped them to respond effectively to such incidents, enhancing their role in community protection," he said
Traditional Authority Khosolo hailed the value of the training, saying it has potential to improve the professionalism of the CPF and foster greater trust among residents.
He also pointed out the need for additional resources, such as handcuffs, to ensure human rights are respected during arrests.
After the training, the Officer In-Charge Inspected the progress of constructing seven police houses at the Khosolo Police Unit as part of the GESD project.
The training session was funded by UNICEF through the M'mbelwa district council.
