According to Kachikho, the accident occurred when a high-roof minibus, registration number MZ 11670, was traveling from Kasungu to Lilongwe.
On the way, the driver hit a cyclist before colliding with a fuel tanker traveling in the opposite direction near Katondo Village, close to Santhe Trading Centre.
After the collision, the minibus burst into flames, killing 25 passengers on board, including two children. All of them perished on the spot.
Kachikho expressed concern over the behavior of some road users, including minibus drivers, who frequently ignore traffic regulations, contributing to the high rate of road accidents in the country.
"It is sad that road users are not adhering to traffic regulations. It's high time we all take responsibility and prioritize road safety in Malawi," stressed Kachikho.
