The call comes after MAGLA conducted a media workshop at Sunbird Hotel in the Northern city of Mzuzu, which was attended by 38 journalists.
Acting Director of Legal and Regulatory Services, Owen Chiumia, said that journalists play a vital role in the development of the country by disseminating accurate information to the public.
He said therefore, journalists should take the lead in promoting responsible gambling practices among the citizens in the communities.

During the training session, Chiuma underscored the importance of responsible gambling, highlighting that it is essential for individuals to engage in gambling activities in a controlled manner to avoid addiction, which can have serious negative consequences on their lives.
"We want the citizens of Malawi to view gambling as an entertainment activity, not a source of income.
"As a result of gambling addiction, five individuals have been referred to the Saint John of God hospital for medical attention," said Chiumia.
Chairperson of the Nyika Media Club, Feston Malekezo, expressed his gratitude to MAGLA for offering the informative training.
He noted that the participants gained valuable insights into the legal frameworks governing the gambling sector in Malawi, among other topics.
MAGLA is a government-established body, formed through an Act of Parliament, with the mandate to regulate and license gaming and lottery operations across Malawi.
