Police at Jenda in Malawi’s northern district of Mzimba have arrested Emmanuel Khowoya 28, for having sexual intercourse with an 8-year-old girl around Jenda trading centre in the district.

Jenda Police spokesperson, MacFarlane Mseteka said Khowoya was brought in by members of the community after it was learnt that he forced the minor to have sexual intercourse on August 20, 2024, in his shop where he charges phones and transfers music files.
Mseteka says it has been established that Khowoya is the customer to the mother of the victim who runs a restaurant next to his shop, on that day he took advantage of the minor because the mother went out.
The suspect then took the child into his shop and had sexual intercourse with her
"Khowoya was later seen bringing the child back to the restaurant by members of the community, and upon seeing them the suspect bolted", said Mseteka.
The spokesperson said upon questioning the suspect, he accepted to have done the act and has since been charged with having sexual intercourse with a female child which is against section 138 of the penal.
Khowoya will be taken to court soon and hails from Ekwendeni, Traditional Authority Mthwalo in the district.
