Nice Trust trains Hora Press Club journalists on Investigative journalism

Mzimba, Malawi – In a bid to enhance professional reporting, NICE Trust has trained journalists from Hora Press Club in Mzimba District on investigative journalism.

The training, which took place on 26 February ,Wednesday at NICE Trust Hall, aimed at equipping journalists with the necessary skills to report factual and well-researched information.


Speaking at the event, Aaron Luhanga, NICE Trust’s District Programs Officer for Mzimba, emphasized the crucial role journalists play in disseminating information to the public.


“We are here to train journalists to investigate more deeply and report factual information to hold authorities accountable. Journalism is key to national development, and accurate reporting is essential,” he stated.


Luhanga further stressed that a significant amount of vital information remains hidden, requiring journalists to uncover and report it professionally to ensure the public stays informed.


Blessings Gondwe, General Secretary of Hora Press Club, echoed the importance of the training, noting that it would enhance journalists' knowledge, skills, and ability to report fact-based news.


“As we approach the general elections, journalists must be extremely careful. Every news article must be based on verified facts to avoid legal challenges that could harm media institutions and personal reputations,” Gondwe Said


The training aimed to strengthen investigative journalism in Mzimba, ensuring that journalists uphold professionalism and ethical.
