Operation eye sight handover Mk54 million clinic to Chitipa District Hospital

The Operation Eye Sight has handed over a K54 million eye clinic including equipment at Chitipa District Hospital.

Speaking during the handover ceremony on Friday, The Country Director kennedy phiri said the Operation Eye Sight thought it wise to construct the clinic in Chitipa to reduce the burden that the people experience to seek eye help across the country.
“We thought it wise to construct a clinic here so that we consider the distance and we need to expand the services in the northern region of Malawi. Our idea is to build regional house in these areas especially Chitipa and Mzimba.
He said the plan is to equip a lab so that they can be able to assemble and make spectacles within five minutes," said phiri.
In his remarks, Chitipa District council Chairperson Leonard kayira appreciated the development brought by operation eye sight that saying it will help the people to reduce expenses going in various hospitals in the country.
“I am very thankful to the Operation Eye Sight. This means our people will no longer go to other districts such as Mzuzu to seek medical attention. This means cutting expenditures on for travel especially on eye problems," said kayira.
kayira further requested other stakeholders to continue assisting chitipa district on health issues.
The operation eye sight has been assisting Chitipa district Hospital with various items which include medications, procurement of equipment and other trainings.
