The Chief Executive Director for Shine on Malawi, Starlin Mughandira said the event was not only a Christmas celebration but also a commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
He emphasized the importance of understanding the significance of this day hence the need to share to others what they do not have.
Mughandira encouraged all children to behave well during the Christmas celebrations, both at school and in their day-to-day lives, while growing spiritually.
"We want these children to know that we, at Shine on Malawi, love them dearly. We want them to succeed through the opportunities we provide," said Mughandira.

He also urged the children to maintain good behavior during the Christmas season, recognizing that it is a time when many challenges can arise.
Group Village Headman Kamwazeka thanked the organization for its efforts to ensure the safety, success, and protection of children.
"I can see that these children are very brilliant. They must work hard to help their parents in the future. We know that God blesses everyone with intelligence, and they should use it wisely," said Kamwazeka.
Area Development Committee member, Jacketar Ngulube, reminded the children that enjoyment is short-term, while the consequences of missed opportunities can last a lifetime.
"I am really concerned about the children of today, as many seek short-term enjoyment and may suffer in the long run due to their behavior. They must not misuse the opportunities Shine on Malawi has provided," said Ngulube.
A child protection worker for the Kaphuta Zone, Hilda Nkhata, urged children to prioritize their education and the opportunities provided by Shine on Malawi.
She highlighted that many students are waiting at home due to the lack of school fees, and the government cannot enroll all students who need assistance.
"I know many students are at home due to the lack of funds. So, if you see organizations like Shine on Malawi supporting you, appreciate the good work they are doing to assist the government in this regard," Nkhata said.
