The communities of Chimutu Village under Paramount Chief M'mbelwa in Mzimba have hailed the Social Cash Transfer Program implemented in the district, saying has greatly transformed their livelihood offering huge poverty relief among individuals.

This was revealed on Friday during an on-going exercise called late enrolment of beneficiaries for social cash transfer in various areas in Mzimba South.
Village headman Alick Kayingeni Lutepo thanked government for the initiative, highlighting its positive impact on food security, education, and healthcare for vulnerable families.
Lutepo emphasized the importance of using the funds wisely, recalling that previous beneficiaries managed to improve their livelihoods with the support.
He urged community members to prioritize essential needs and expressed concern for those who remain without assistance, noting that many families are still in dire situations.
He also called on the government to expand the program and introduce additional initiatives that address the broader needs of the community.

"Without food, we cannot achieve community development," he stated, reflecting on the urgent need for more resources to support those left behind.
One of the beneficiaries, an 84-year-old woman Wyness Mphande, shared her gratitude for the assistance, saying the funds will enable her to purchase fertilizer and maize, ensuring that she can also care for three orphans in her home.
