TEVETA Director of Programs, Modesto Gomani made the remarks on Friday during a youth conference organised by Mzuzu diocese at Katete Mission in the district.

Gomani said that the population of youths is high and hence the demand for skills is overwhelming to reach out to everyone else.

He said it the effort of the stakeholders as well as government to increase access to vocational services for the youths to ensure they are economically stable and self-reliant to develop their country.

Gomani said many youths are indulging into immoral behaviors which is affecting their lives hence there is need to engage the youths in vocational skills while they are still young for them to become productive citizens.

"The youths are facing a number of challenges and we thought to engage stakeholders which is hindering progress in their lives. We are therefore here to educate them about vocational skills for them to be self-reliance since such skills does not require one to be a graduate.
