According to Spokesperson for Jenda police, MacFarlane Mseteka, said the two were arrested during the night of August 7, 2024, through an intelligence driven operation that was carried out by Jenda and Champhira Police detectives after the information linked the two to the murder of Nyoni.

Msateka said the deceased Nyoni left home for beer drinking at Zosiyilana Local Pub on July 27, 2024, and never returned and his parents instituted a search but to no avail until the following day when he was found lying dead in a nearby bush at Zandonda around Champhira.

He said the matter was reported at Champhira Police Post, who rushed to the scene along with medical personnel from Katete Mission Hospital where it was discovered that the body had severe burns on the right hand, shoulder and arm, indicating foul play.

Postmortem conducted at the same facility revealed that Nyoni was scalded and died due to severe burns before being dumped in the bush.

The suspects have since been charged with murder which is contrary to section 209 of the Penal Code. They will appear before court after the completion of paperwork.

Both the suspects come from Traditional Authority Mabilabo in the District.
