Two men netted for assault in Mzimba

Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested two men for allegedly assaulting Jevas Shaba, Timothy Shaba and Suzgo Banda in the area of Inkosi Khonsolo over land disputes.

Jenda police spokesperson Macfarlen Mseteka said the two suspects, have been identified as Mavuto Shaba aged 42 and Nemon Shaba aged 46.


Mseteka said two of the assaulted men are currently admitted to Mzimba hospital while one(Suzgo Banda) has been refered to Mzuzu central hospital as he sustained deep cuts in the head.


Raphael Shaba from the same area said wrangles over land between villagers of Mapira Shaba and those of Mbiko Shaba, who are related, started in 2017 and have always been characterized by violence especially during the growing season.


The suspects, from Mbiko village, have been since been charged with the offence of causing grievous harm.
