Over 8000 People in the communities of Edingeni and Embangweni in Mzimba will soon benefit from Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project, that will among others provide access to clean and safe drinking water courtesy of Catholic Health Commission of Mzuzu Diocese.

This was known on a sidelines of a District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting at Tovwirane Hall in the district recently.
Speaking during the meeting, Health Coordinator for the Catholic Health Commission in Mzuzu Diocese, Mtisunge Banda, said 8,054 people will benefit from 10 new boreholes that will be sunk in the two areas, as well as rehabilitation of 5 existing boreholes in the two catchment areas.
"Through this project, we will provide clean and safe drinking water to communities at Edingeni and Embangweni.
The project, also increase the availability and use of improved sanitation facilities, such as latrines and proper waste disposal systems, in the two areas from 32 to 80 percent by June 2025," said Banda.
The project is funded by Cross Catholic Outreach with 170 million Malawi Kwacha, and will run for One year from July 2024 to June 2025 and will be implemented in T/A M'mbelwa and T/A Mzukuzuku.
