We thought to lend a hand-Mughandira PIC Chisomo Sezi
The Executive Director, Stalin Mughandira said over the weekend that the organization saw the challenges that orphans, and vulnerable people are facing and hence the need to lend a hand.
“This is just the beginning. We aim to extend our help to more people, especially the most vulnerable in the community. We recently conducted a survey in six areas, including Chamkusa, Chanthomba, Engalaweni, SS Corner, MBC, and Kamwazeka, to better understand poverty levels affecting both rural and urban populations,” he said.
“While many organizations focus on remote areas, we found that urban residents are also grappling with severe hardships,” Mughandira added.
The Director therefore called for collaborative efforts from local chiefs, government entities, and NGOs to provide sustainable support.
“In addition to distributing clothes, we’ve identified other pressing needs like inadequate housing, food shortages, and the inability to pay school fees. Together, we can make a lasting impact,” he said.
Group Village Headman Kamwazeka expressed gratitude for the organization’s work.
“This initiative is transforming lives. Yesterday, for instance, people received clothes and Likuni Phala porridge from Shine on Malawi’s factory. This sustainable effort will bring lasting benefits to our community,” said Kamwazeka.
Vice Chairperson of the Civil Society Organizations in Mzimba, Samuel Gondwe, said people in the district are facing several challenges with many living below the poverty line due to low agricultural productivity.
